Miami Defense Attorneys for DUI Charges
Roadside tests, also known as field sobriety tests, are frequently used by police officers during DUI stops to test a person’s level of impairment by alcohol or drugs. These tests include roadside Breathalyzer tests as well as physical tests such as the walk-and-turn and the one-leg stand.
It is important to speak with an experienced attorney after a DUI arrest, especially if you have performed any roadside tests as part of the stop. At Ferrer Shane, PL, we have a thorough understanding of field sobriety and blood alcohol tests. We will use our extensive experience to fight your charge of driving under the influence.

In Florida, you only have 10 days after your DUI arrest and after you receive notice of your license suspension to request an administrative hearing to challenge the suspension of your license. Our lawyers can request this hearing on your behalf to help you challenge the loss of your driving privileges.
Common Field Sobriety Tests
In addition to Breathalyzer tests to measure the level of alcohol in your blood, police officers typically use six basic roadside tests that include:
- Nine step walk-and-turn test
- One-leg stand test
- Finger-to-nose test
- Alphabet test
- Counting test
- HGH or Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test
Our firm will examine the traffic stop to see if there was a justifiable reason to stop your vehicle, if proper instructions were provided for the tests, whether the officer performed the field sobriety tests properly, whether you were read the Miranda warning by the officer and whether any other mistakes were made during the stop and subsequent arrest.
If we find that any errors occurred during your interaction with the police, we may be able to petition the court to have improper evidence suppressed or your case thrown out altogether.
