1. Pay the ticket.

Twelve points within a 12-month period will lead to license suspension for 30 days; 18 points within 18 months will lead to three months of suspension; and 24 points within 36 months will lead to a suspension of one year.
2. Attend traffic school.
If you have a ticket, you may reduce the negative impact on your license and insurance by attending traffic school. You will generally receive reduced fines and no points on your license. However, you may only use this option once per year and only five times in your life.
3. Request a court date and fight the ticket.
You can fight your ticket by hiring a lawyer and requesting a court date.
