Miami Ticket and Traffic Offense Attorneys
Traffic tickets and civil traffic offenses may seem minor and not worth the time, money and effort of fighting in court. Even just one speeding ticket, however, can have a real impact on your driving record and your car insurance rates. Defending your record and your driver’s license from unnecessary consequences is worth the small price associated with hiring an attorney for your traffic ticket defense.
Your Options After Receiving a Traffic Ticket
After you get a ticket in Miami or the surrounding communities of South Florida, you have 30 days to decide between one of three options:
1. Pay the ticket.
If you pay the ticket, you are admitting guilt, and you will also receive points on your license. Twelve points within a 12-month period will lead to license suspension for 30 days; 18 points within 18 months will lead to three months of suspension; and 24 points within 36 months will lead to a suspension of one year.
2. Attend traffic school.
If you have a ticket, you may reduce the negative impact on your license and insurance by attending traffic school. You will generally receive reduced fines and no points on your license. However, you may only use this option once per year and only five times in your life.
3. Request a court date and fight the ticket.
You can fight your ticket by hiring a lawyer and requesting a court date. By hiring an attorney at Ferrer Shane, you can ensure that you will receive knowledgeable and experienced traffic ticket defense. We will handle your case for you, generally without the need to come to our office or go to the courthouse.
